Law Day 2022

Law Day brings our attention to the role of law in our society. Whether you’re a lawyer, attorney general, paralegal, defendant or plaintiff, or just someone using a legal contract, the law affects and protects all of us.

The goal of this year’s theme is to emphasize how the Constitution is a dynamic document, that outlines a blueprint for our government and establishes mechanisms for change.

The topic, chosen annually by the American Bar Association, highlights that the Constitution is, “neither perfect, nor exhaustive’, as our nation’s history makes clear. Legislation, court rulings, amendments, lawyers, and ‘we the people’ have built upon those original words across generations to attempt to make the ‘more perfect Union’ more real.

The process of defining and refining the words of the Constitution might be our oldest national tradition, and how each of us works-together-toward a more perfect Union.

First recognized by President Dwight Eisenhower in 1959,  Law Day was officially designated by Congress to be held on May 1st every year.
